Yes a lot of switched-on academics (especially in the design, marketing, media, entrepreneurship as well as other fields) are telling their students that the jobs that students think they might be getting ‘ trained’ for are not actually going to be there (or will be very different) when they enter the workforce.

Instead of preparing a student for a job (that no longer has security) — I say I’m helping you build capacity (and the ability to learn how to learn) — such that you can create opportunities for yourself. And as you rightly put it: work on yourself :)
